Stevens Johnsons Syndrome (SJS) vs.Toxic Epidermal Necrolysis (TEN)

SJS also known the past as erythema multiforme major is a severe immune-complex–mediated hypersensitivity. It is classified as follows:
  • SJS - Less than 10% body surface area (BSA) detachment
  • Overlapping SJS/TEN - Detachment of 10-30% BSA
  • TEN - Detachment of more than 30% BSA
Treatment of SJS and TEN is mainly supportive. Patients should be managed in intensive settings in a burn care or burn like unit.
